Licensure requirements
Each CHCPBC licensee has ongoing responsibilities to maintain their licensure and ensure they remain qualified and eligible to practise.
Annual licence renewal
CHCPBC licensure expires annually on March 31. All licensees are required to complete the renewal process each year to remain licensed.
Professional liability insurance
Licensees must maintain professional liability insurance (PLI) at all times, for their own protection and the protection of their patients.
Criminal record check
Every CHCPBC licensee undergoes a criminal record check when they apply for licensure and a re-check every five years while they remain licensed.
Up-to-date profile
Licensees are responsible for ensuring that their personal and business information on file with CHCPBC remains current and complete.
Professional and Quality Practice Program
Participation in CHCPBC’s quality assurance program, the Professional and Quality Practice Program (PQPP), is mandatory for all licensees.
Licensee duties
Under the Health Professions and Occupations Act, all licensed healthcare professionals have specific legal obligations.
